Sam Wahl Recreation Area

Located 45 miles south of Lubbock on the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River. Take U.S. Highway 84 to FM 2458 and proceed on FM 2458 for 4 miles to FM 3519. Follow FM 3519 for 3 miles to the park entrance.

The nearest major Texas cities are: Lubbock, Abilene, Amarillo

Sam Wahl Recreation Area is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week year-round.

Access to the adjacent Wildlife Habitat Area is day use only and requires advance permission.

A park entrance fee is charged per day -- $6 per person (Monday-Friday) or $8 per person (Friday-Sunday). Day use fees are lower for Lubbock residents. Annual passes are available.

Campsite and other facility fees are in addition to the park entrance fee.

Restrooms, parking, courtesy docks, picnic areas and camping accommodations are available at this location.  The Sam Wahl Recreation Area is handicap accessible.
